EPL : Middlesbrough fires Southgate as coach

Gareth Southgate has been fired by Middlesbrough even though the team’s 2-0 victory over Derby put the team back in the race to gain to promotion to the Premier League.

Relegated from the top flight last season, Middlesbrough is one of the leading contenders to return and Tuesday’s victory kept the side in contention in fourth place.

But Middlesbrough announced on Tuesday that Southgate, who had been in charge of the team since June 2006, had been relieved of his position.
