Sex in the Forbidden City came to an abrupt end when police and Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) enforcement officers raided the massage parlour in USJ.
The premise in USJ with the intriguing name was one of three so-called "beauty and wellness" centres suspected to be providing sexual services of women from China, Indonesia and Thailand.
A pile of condoms uncovered during the swoop Thursday evening provided evidence of the real activities going on inside.
The raids on two other massage parlours in Puchong also showed that they had violated the council's Beauty and wellness centre bylaws.
But the Forbidden City massage parlour in the USJ held the most suprises.
Besides closed-circuit camera TVs security, it was fortified by iron grilles and also had what looked like an emergency escape route - a cubbyhole was found hidden behind some drawers.
MPSJ president Datuk Adnan Md Ikshan, who was present during the raids conducted between 3pm and 5pm, said the air-conditioning was still on, indicating that clients could have just fled the premise.
"We were tipped off by the public about the activities going on inside," he said.
He said 17 women were detained during the checks and 14 from China, Thailand and Indonesia had been handed over to the Immigration Department.
